Nude Bowling Party (1995) Review

Jason Williams proves how sports events would be much better if they had naked women in them with this erotic parody of the TV show “Bowling for Dollars”.

Nude Bowling Party is a movie where two groups of women compete in a televised bowling game while trying to be as sexy as they can. These beautiful ladies include the likes of softcore star Cory Lane or Tammy Parks (Titanic 2000, Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfolds), who will try their best at the competition while turning the lane into their personal runway, posing and showing off for the viewers delight on every possible occasion. Such scenes are captured exquisitely by director of photography Daniel Yarussi, who managed to never miss the action with some impressively elegant shots. Despite that, this movie is only available on VHS and so far has never been rereleased in another format, which limits heavily the quality in which we can appreciate it.

The models team is introduced

As the focus on screen is clearly meant for the women, the male actors are given very minor roles. They basically serve as an audience, for example, director of Hostel 3 Scott Spiegel and Sam Raimi’s brother Ivan have a short appearance as photographers in the back, but do nothing in particular besides cheering. Our hosts get a bit more protagonism with their commentary throughout the game, but, for some reason their dialogues are occasionally cut off, almost as if the editor had forgotten to include what they were saying. Still, I’ll admit that some of their comments made me chuckle a couple times, so it’s a shame we can’t hear them consistently. Throughout the whole film, we’ll be able to appreciate some charming upbeat tunes that feel very reminiscing of the aquatic levels on 90s videogames. But even if the music is quite alright, it gets reused a bit too much.

That same repetitive feeling the music starts to give after being reused so many times also applies to the whole production in general after the first 30 minutes. By then, you’re basically watching the same thing again and again, which makes you wonder if the runtime of a whole hour was really necessary. But, even if the movie overstays it’s welcome a bit too much for me, they did not disappoint on the things they were trying to achieve. They accurately re-created a TV production of the time and delivered an enjoyable, even if slightly cheesy experience. I’d recommend checking it out to anybody seeking for some wholesome erotica, or to any bowling fans out there, this could probably be your ultimate fantasy.
